Delete wiki

Can you delete Vikidia (ca) 2 as my phone accidentally submitted it twice. Thanks Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 13:03, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

done. --MarkAHershberger(talk) 11:42, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. --[[kgh]] (talk) 16:57, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Yugipedia skin count

Can you figure out why the Skins tab on Yugipedia claims it has 10 skins, but only 5 are listed? I've looked into it before, but couldn't work it out myself. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 03:41, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, we have this issue for years but I have not had the time to look into this yet. Mostly it lists the extensions twice and displays the count correctly. Actually this is the first time where I see this the other way around. Cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 10:05, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

NikkiWiki

Thanks for adding NikkiWiki to WikiApiary!  :-)

Nicole Sharp (talk) 00:53, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

You are welcome. Glad you like it. Keep up the good wiki work. :) Cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 08:36, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

How to move SDIY wiki to Synth DIY Wiki?

The SDIY wiki has been renamed to Synth DIY Wiki, all the other details e.g. the API URL remain the same. How to move the page on WikiApiary? --Rob Kam (talk) 07:40, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

You cannot do this, thus I have just done it for you now. Cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 07:44, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. --Rob Kam (talk) 08:00, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Renamed wiki

I just stumbled across a renamed wiki that has WikiApiary pages for both its old and new names/URLs: the IEEE Global History Network was renamed to Engineering and Technology History Wiki at some point, with an accompanying URL change. I don't know how to handle this. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 15:28, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting this. Usually and preferably we fix the first wiki added to WikiApiary. In this case the old entry stopped collecting data before the "duplicate" was added and which is collecting fine. Since we have some liberty here to do decent choices I in this case redirected the older entry to the newer entry. Cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 15:57, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Wikitravel

Can you move Wikitravel to Wikitravel (de) as then I can create pages on the other language editions and turn that into a disambig page. Thanks --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 18:00, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Done. --[[kgh]] (talk) 20:07, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Requested moves

Hey again. Can you do the follows moves so they appear on the Wazeopedia disambig page and match the format of the other wikis in the farm
Wazeopedia - Canada -> Wazeopedia (Canada)
Wazeopedia - Global -> Wazeopedia (Global)
Wazeopedia - USA -> Wazeopedia (USA)
Thank you --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 21:38, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Sure, done! Cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 07:13, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

@Kghblin Thanks. Can you also move
Wazeopedia (Swedish) -> Wazeopedia (Sweden) (typo)
VSTF Wiki -> SOAP Wiki (Wiki renamed)
--Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 09:26, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Done. SOAP wiki still needs to be updated. --[[kgh]] (talk) 09:30, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Can the bot be made to accept Gzip?

Hi, I'm one of the people working for Liquipedia our farm hasn't been collected in almost 2 years now because we only accept gzip request to reduce the data transfer size from all the requests to our wiki. Would it be possible to make the data collection bot also accept gzip?

--Salle (talk) 14:51, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Your best shot is to create an issue for I guess BumbleBee it is on GitHub (WikiApiary/wikibees). If you also provide a pull for it it will be great. Cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 15:26, 1 September 2020 (UTC) PS Make sure you also ping Hexmode.
Okay, thank you.

Duplicate

Hi, EverybodyWiki (en) and EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki in English are duplicates --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 14:39, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks and done! --[[kgh]] (talk) 14:52, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
@Kghbln Thank you. Can you also rename EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki en Portuguais to EverybodyWiki (pt) so all the wikis in the farm have the same naming scheme --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 17:47, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Done! :) --[[kgh]] (talk) 19:40, 26 September 2020 (UTC) PS Yeah, these bla, bla, bla names are a frequent issue. Not sure why they do not use the tagline.

Please unblock my Cryscryb2 account.

Hi, first of all, I'm not a spammer, please unblock my "Cryscryb2" account. The maker of DPL3 has stepped down from working on anything related to mediawiki. I simply updated the URL for its project page which was long ago changed to (but was outdated on this site): https://gitlab.com/hydrawiki/extensions/DynamicPageList

If you had taken 1 minute to look at the extension page on MediaWiki.org, you would have seen this (the correct project page listed on its page, matching what I input): https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList3

You also would have been able to click on the Alexia's (the writer of DPL3) name, and you would see her message that she no longer works on DPL3. Also on her discussion page she works on nothing mediawiki related anymore, which also includes her Tabber extension. I won't be updating the repository links for any of her other extensions on this site, that's for sure. You also had the wrong the wrong extension latest version, which I corrected, which you banned me for.

And, both DPL3 and DPL(third-party) are not compatible with the current stable release of Mediawiki 1.35 even though users are using it, it is causing both silent and logged DB errors and failures of pages to load in certain circumstances, which people don't notice until it is too late and they have upgraded--hence why I added the note and filed one of the tickets for DPL(third-party); not being compatible and flagged it as such on its extension page, when I tried to replace DPL3 using that extension. There are wikis running 1.35 now with DPL3 not knowing it is incompatible. Lots of Mirahzee wikis. Fortunately Fandom is still on 1.33, so its 300 or so wikis that use DPL are okay until they attempt an update. DPL3 was flagged as incompatible with 1.35 just a couple weeks ago by someone else, so you can see that I'm not just a spammer, but that would have required you looking at the extension pages. And when folks come here looking for other wikis running 1.35 and DPL as I did (found about 5) then I can warn them that DPL3 is incompatible (lacks support for actor) but then I come here and see the wrong project page, and users filing tickets there (based on your outdated link) are just going to get lost in the void because that isn't the correct project page for it anymore. And she hasn't put anything up on her project page that it was moved, I take it she just kinda walked away from MediaWiki work. I didn't even know she had until I tried to leave a message on her talk page (without looking at her user page) and she deleted everything on her talk page and said she isn't working on MediaWiki stuff anymore... so the project page you had is dead and no one will have a clue because she never took the time to write anything on it about it being moved. She just literally walked away from MW.

People have a right to correct information, and presumably they'd like to have correct information. Sending them to the wrong project page to file tickets is a very bad idea. That's why I wanted to update it. Having the wrong extension version is also not good, which is why I updated it. The compatibility issue we didn't discover until after we updated our site and now we're in a pickle, because much of our site relies on DPL3, so we tested DPL2 and discovered the same issue and filed a matching phabricator ticket to the DPL3 one. Since about 600 wikis are going to find themselves in this position soon, I figured I'd update as much information about it where I can, phabricator, the MediaWiki.org extension pages, the talk pages for the extension, WikiApiary. So I sought out to check DPL(third-party) as well, and mark it also as incompatible when I tested it in combination with checking the db logs.. why did I do this? So that no one would find themselves in the same situation. Then I set about updating the information here as well. Anywhere there is DPL information, I set about to update it, on my own time, because I like to be helpful. Welp, it got me a ban. Thank you very much for that.

I would have thought you'd like to keep the information on this site up to date, and thought that's why anyone could edit when creating an account, but I guess updates are not wanted. My wiki is indexed here. I use this site, but apparently I can't trust the information on it, so it becomes not much use to me after all. Also, when blocked it said I could contact you via your pages, except the block didn't allow that. So people can't even message you to defend themselves when you block them without cause. You should consider fixing that or making a google form or something for unblocking so people don't just get angry and never come back. I had to use a VPN and create a new account to write you this message to ask you to please undo your unfair and premature block, which is pretty bad imho. Cryscryb3 (talk) 21:34, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

Your message is pretty exhausting and it seems that you are very new to wikis. Anyhow, I will unblock and please give me a break. Thanks --[[kgh]] (talk) 21:44, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
I'm not new to wikis, thanks for that. lol. We'll be removing our apiary footer. If people update stuff do you normally just block them without taking a second to verify the information? Then not apologize or even acknowledge when you do? Well, thanks for unblocking me, you won't have to worry about me updating any further information on this site, it is no longer useful to us. Thanks and good luck with the project. Cryscryb3 (talk) 21:51, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
You reverted my change, it was the word "exhausting" that got me: I'd like to (please) remove the interaction I had with you. I was upset at banning for legit info attempting to help. With MS I have a lot of trouble writing, hyperthyroid makes the MS 100 times worse, just had my second round of radiation for the latter, my month was hell. MS = problems organizing thoughts, controlling emotions, constant pain, disability, and that's seriously the easy stuff lately. I recognized my message didn't make sense, I should have cut you a break... for me life has no idea what a break looks like, I wasn't recognizing that, so I'm sorry. This is the 4th time this week I've attempted to do something decent/nice and gotten slammed for it, I was upset. My energy is non-existent, no idea why I try anymore. DPL being abandoned, this experience, and real-life horrifying stuff (not mentioned) crushing my chest, all icing on the cake this week. Was going to request unbanning per the instructions, but the permissions don't allow that. That was my breaking point, it's been one of those weeks that makes a girl seriously consider jumping in the frozen ocean and never coming out again. You know?
Never mind, I'm sure it's just me. So, I'm sorry, I didn't react favorably to being blocked, maybe your week/month/whatever has been garbage too, that I do get. I humbly submit it might be a good to provide a method to request unblocking that the MW permissions actually allow. Or, to consider adding a note about not editing extension listings if you don't want them edited, when left open to public editing. I explored the front-facing pages before doing so, saw nothing, so tried to do update it myself. I was calm until that, then the 11 tones of doodoo I've been carrying hammered me, and I had a moment of not being my "best self" (whatever is even left of that). If you'd be kind enough to remove our conversation, I'd appreciate it. If not, not much I can do. The page history is the only place that I'd like to see myself.... though admittedly the ocean is looking pretty great lately, so maybe it won't matter.
